Honda Motorcycle Owners to Receive Correct Weight Labels

Article Published in Autos on April 13, 2010

Owners of certain model year 2010 Honda motorcycles will receive by mail new adhesive labels to place on the bikes stating a correct gross axle weight rating (GAWR). No incidents have been reported.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. of Torrance, CA, issued a recall to correct the GAWR for its VT1300CR, CRA, and CT motorcycles manufactured between December 17, 2009 and May 24, 2010. Click here for specific VIN numbers of affected motorcycles. Honda estimates that 3,184 motorcycles have an incorrect label. An incorrect weight rating could cause an owner to mistakenly carry too much weight on the cycle, posing the risk of a crash or other safety hazard. The company states that the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) stated on the label is correct.

Honda will notify owners of record beginning August 20, 2010. Owners who prefer that a dealer place the sticker on the bike may contact their Honda dealer, who will perform the service at no charge.
