Sunbeam is recalling about 5,700 convertible irons it sold last year after receiving 17 reports of irons overheating and three reports of irons catching on fire, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. No injuries have been reported. A “wiring issue” has been determined to be the cause.

The recall affects the Sunbeam Convertible Iron, model number GCSBRS-103, which can be found on the bottom of the iron’s plastic base. Date codes C235 or C237 can be found on the prong of the plug.

The convertible irons were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond stores nationwide from June 2010 to November 2010 for about $60.

Consumers should stop using the irons and contact sunbeamconvertible.com or call 1-800-656-9708 to receive a free replacement.
