American Spoon Foods is recalling certain Apple Chipotle Salsa, Maple BBQ Grilling Sauce, and Pumpkin Chipotle Roasting Sauce because the products may contain undeclared wheat. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers with allergies or sensitivities to wheat or gluten could experience adverse reactions.
According to an announcement by the Food and Drug Administration, the Petoskey, Michigan based company says the recall affects three brands:
• Apple Chipotle Salsa, 13.5 oz jar, UPC code 019363016047

- Lot codes from 0002 – 0365
- Lot codes from 1002 – 1034
• Maple BBQ Grilling Sauce, 15 oz jar, UPC Code 019363014371
- Lot codes from 9301 – 9363
- Lot codes from 0002 – 0365
- Lot codes from 1002 – 1034
• Pumpkin Chipotle Roasting Sauce, 14 oz jar, UPC Code 019363014173
- Lot codes from 9301 – 9363
- Lot codes from 0002 – 0365
- Lot codes from 1002 – 1034
The lot codes are the first four numbers of the 12 digit code printed on the glass on the back of the jar, below the “Best By” date.
A spokesperson for American Spoon told SafetyCheck that 22,653 jars are affected by the recall. The jars were sold in American Spoon’s six retail locations in Michigan, and at specialty food retailers in 13 states.
